Nestled in the heart of Bilbao's Ibaiondo district, Asador Sutegi invites diners to indulge in an unforgettable culinary experience that celebrates the art of grilling and the finest cuts of meat. Located at Andra Maria Kalea, 13, this restaurant is not just a haven for steak lovers but a true testament to expert craftsmanship and local flavors.
Asador Sutegi is particularly renowned for its extensive array of entrantes, showcasing premium ingredients and traditional recipes with a modern twist. For instance, the delightful carpaccio de chuleta de vaca madurada, elegantly adorned with parmesano shavings and a flavorful dressing of capers and black truffle, immediately sets the tone for what’s to come, priced at €17.00. Meat aficionados will revel in the tender cecina de buey at €25.00 or the luxurious paletilla Cinco Jotas for €19.50—each dish a celebration of rich flavors and impeccable presentation.
The seafood offerings are equally captivating, featuring local treasures such as the bogavante del país and gambas de Huelva that create a flavorful fusion when grilled to perfection. Dishes like the dashing mejillones a la brasa for €12.50 showcase the restaurant’s commitment to serving the freshest ingredients in a rustic yet refined manner.
While the culinary delights are undoubtedly the star of Asador Sutegi, the ambiance plays a crucial role in enhancing the dining experience. Customers have noted the restaurant's lively atmosphere, complimented by attentive service. However, some have suggested that the plating could be refined to match the elegance of the venue, as mentioned in a review by Britt van Schie. The restaurant does have a buzzing energy, but those seeking a leisurely dining experience should be prepared to embrace the full two-hour service that aligns perfectly with the pace of culinary enjoyment.
My personal highlight has to be the big steak, a signature dish that has received rave reviews for its juiciness and depth of flavor, making it a must-try for anyone visiting. The impeccably marbled cuts served here speak volumes about Asador Sutegi’s dedication to quality and customer satisfaction. Coupled with a robust selection of Spanish wines to enhance your meal, this establishment truly ensures that each dining experience is memorable.
In summary, Asador Sutegi embodies a unique blend of tradition and modernity within its walls. It's a place where passion for food meets craftsmanship, making it well worth a visit. Whether you're indulging in their succulent steaks or savoring the freshest seafood, Asador Sutegi's offerings promise to tantalize your taste buds and leave you eager for your next meal.

If you come here for the meat, you’re good! The fish is also really nice. But the plating can be done better, the fries were just thrown on there. Must say the waiters were very on point, but could relate to there not being many guests. I find a confusing restaurant; it looks fancy but it doesn’t tick all the boxes.

I was very happy to finally have the chance to dine at this local steakhouse. On my previous visit, it was completely sold out. This time, I came for lunch and tried their signature dish, the Big Steak, along with a few appetizers. I must say, it was a great experience. It’s a busy place, so this isn’t the spot for a quick lunch or dinner — expect to spend at least two hours. The pace matches the atmosphere. Our service was excellent, the food lived up to our expectations, and the prices were fair for the type of restaurant and experience. I totally recommend this place if you have the time and are ready to enjoy a full dining experience.

Excellent food. The steaks are absolutely superb, and well worth trying. The atmosphere is great too, particularly near the bar. I wish they would be more dog-friendly, though. We were allowed a table with the dog near the street, but on another occasion we were refused entry, which is a pity. Still, excellent restaurant and highly recommended.

We had a lovely dinner at Sutegi Grill. We were seated immediately, the ambiance was lively but we could easily have a conversation. We started with a glass of white wine, smallest pours I have ever seen, see photo. From there we ordered the cod, a small sirloin and the grilled veges. All were cooked to perfection and delicious! We added a bottle of Bai Gorri Tempranillo which we loved so much we are going to visit the winery. Other than the small pour, we were delighted with our experience.
